Sunday, May 15, 2011, is our 10th annual "Saddle Up" for St Jude benefit trail ride! "Saddle Up" is a fun, family-oriented fundraising event that raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, TN, was founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas, to combat catastrophic diseases in children. The hospital is non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and has provided total medical care to over 19,000 patients, some locally. At St. Jude, scientists and physicians work side by side seeking a better means of treatment, but also the cause, cure and prevention of diseases such as leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, and other various forms of cancer. Through basic research programs, new medications and treatments have been developed to help save the lives of thousands of children each year, bringing the survival rates of childhood cancers up from less than 20% to better than 70% onerall.
Anyone wishing to participate in the 10 mile benefit trail ride may do so by calling (330) 484-3901. It is open to anyone that has their own horse, or you can rent one from the stable for $50.00 (advance reservations required), and you make a donation to the cause the day of the ride. Participants can pick up a pledge form from the KOA campground office and get donations at a flat rate or by the mile for 10 miles.
